The Montreal Alouettes released quarterback Brandon Bridge on Monday, according to Didier Ormejuste of RDS.

Bridge only featured in short-yardage situations this season with the Alouettes, rushing three times for two yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The 24-year-old was thrown into action last year when Jonathan Crompton and Dan LeFevour went down with injuries against Ottawa in the season opener.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Toronto native made his first career start against Saskatchewan in the final regular-season game last year, throwing for 220 yards and two touchdowns.

Bridge was selected in the fourth round of the 2015 CFL Draft out of South Alabama.
