Portuguese veteran Hugo Almeida has introduced himself to fans of his new club Hannover in spectacular fashion.
The 31-year-old, who joined Die Roten for a free transfer last Saturday following a mutual termination of his deal in Russia with Anzhi Makhachkala, had a loose ball fall at his feet after a Adam Szalai mishit, and quickly dispatched a belter past Darmstadt 'keeper Christian Mathenia to open the scoring.
A fine start in a move that reunites Almeida with manager Thomas Schaaf, for whom he worked under at Werder Bremen between 2006 and 2010.
