Sidelined for eight months with an ankle injury picked up during a match in March, Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery is belatedly slated to return to training with the Bavarian giants.

The French international was injured in a one-sided 7-0 Champions League victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on March 11 and has struggled to recover.

Ribery, 32, is set to return to training Wednesday, after a cold delayed his recovery by another week, according to a report from BILD, courtesy of ESPN FC.

In Ribery's absence, first-place Bayern hasn't missed a beat, thriving under the tutelage of summer signings Kinglsey Coman and Douglas Costa on the wings as the club sits eight points clear of second-place Borussia Dortmund with a stunning goal differential of plus-37.

With only five goals against and without a defeat through 14 Bundesliga fixtures, Pep Guardiola's men are on pace for one of the German top flight's most dominant campaigns, perhaps diminishing the necessity of Ribery's inevitable return.
