Report: Everton on alert after Bayern Munich make Dante available
With Chelsea making great efforts to pry John Stones away from Everton, rumours persist that the Liverpool club is looking for replacements for the defender.
River Plate man Ramiro Funes Mori may be on his way to Goodison, and now Everton is reportedly chasing Brazilian international Dante, who carries a price tag of approximately £6.4 million, according to German newspaper Bild, via The Independent.
Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has allegedly made the centre-back available following the return to fitness of Holger Badstuber and Javi Martinez. With Jerome Boateng and Mehdi Benatia the preferred duo, Dante has been bumped well down the pecking order at Allianz Arena.
Roberto Martinez has a lack of defensive cover at Everton after veteran defenders Sylvain Distin and Antolin Alcaraz left earlier this summer, and if Stones departs for the English champions, it would leave the club in dire need.
Despite all the speculation surrounding his future at the club, Stones is expected to line up against Manchester City this Sunday.
