Eintracht Frankfurt stuns Bayern Munich in DFB-Pokal final

Niko Kovac's last act as Eintracht Frankfurt manager was one-upping his future employer.

The 46-year-old boss, who will take over at Bayern Munich next season, led his current club to an upset of the Bavarian titan with a 3-1 win in Saturday's DFB-Pokal final.

It wasn't without drama, though.

After Ante Rebic's second goal of the match gave Eintracht a 2-1 lead in the 82nd minute, Bayern players felt they should have been awarded a penalty well into stoppage time after Kevin-Prince Boateng appeared to foul Javi Martinez in the area. However, their requests were shot down by the video assistant referee. With 'keeper Sven Ulreich pushed up for the ensuing corner kick, Eintracht immediately countered on the break, and Mijat Gacinovic plotted his side's third into Bayern's empty goal to cement the victory.

Even Gacinovic's teammates on the sidelines couldn't help but follow him down the pitch.

It's Eintracht's first DFB-Pokal since 1988 and the fifth in club history.
