Muller, Alonso score beauties as Bayern tops Chelsea in Singapore test
Alvaro Morata's flick-on for Michy Batshuayi earned the Spaniard an assist on his Chelsea debut, although he wasn't able to prevent his new employer losing 3-2 to Bayern Munich in Singapore on Tuesday.
The Spaniard was introduced off the bench after 63 minutes, but by then the Blues were two adrift of Bayern after Rafinha's long-distance bobbler and a Thomas Muller brace.
The latter's second strike was a deliciously-placed shot that eluded Thibaut Courtois' grasp:
Marcos Alonso, a standout player from the Blues' Premier League title win last season, reduced arrears just before the break. It was a neat team goal featuring an intelligent Willian dummy before Alonso smashed home:
Batshuayi nodded Chelsea to within one goal of Bayern's tally with five minutes of normal time remaining. The Belgian now has five goals in three matches of his side's pre-season preparations (including the behind-closed-doors friendly with Fulham), potentially putting greater pressure on Morata's expected starting berth than he did on last season's first-choice frontman Diego Costa.
Bayern Munich stays in Singapore to take on Inter Milan on Thursday, while Chelsea takes on the Italian side at the same venue two days later.
