Boxing star Jake Paul says he might not fight again due to complications stemming from the broken jaw he suffered against Anthony Joshua late last year.

Paul lost to the former heavyweight champion via sixth-round knockout in December in Miami. Paul's jaw was fractured in two places. The 29-year-old underwent surgery the day after the fight and then again in February after plates and screws inserted during the first surgery came loose.

Paul said Monday on "The Ariel Helwani Show" that he'll undergo scans on his jaw later this week and his fighting future is "most definitely" in doubt.

"I'm getting some new scans ... to get an update on the healing process," Paul said. "We'll see what my doctors say. I think I'll be able to get a more accurate timeframe - or can I even fight again? That is definitely in the realm (of) possibilities. ...

"I think it just depends on how the bone heals. And then also, there's a tooth missing here. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to get an implanted tooth of some sort. I don't know how much time that's gonna add to things. But we just have to see and figure out what the smartest thing is for me."

Paul suffered the first knockout loss of his career against Joshua, falling to 12-2 as a professional. The YouTube star turned prizefighter has been involved in some of the biggest boxing matches of the last six years, including a November 2024 bout against Mike Tyson that he won by unanimous decision.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his boxing career, Paul said he hopes to keep fighting.

"Those thoughts have definitely come up, but I'm not done," Paul said when asked if any part of him thinks he should retire. "I can just feel it in my spirit and my soul and my heart that I have more fights left and unfinished business in my mind. Injuries are a part of any sport. ... I definitely don't feel like I'm done and want to keep on fighting."
