Shakur Stevenson wants to finally make a megafight against Gervonta "Tank" Davis happen.

The WBC lightweight champion defended his title for the third time Saturday, earning a unanimous decision win over William Zepeda at Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York. Stevenson said he's "chasing" Davis, the WBA lightweight champ, following his latest victory.

"I think it could be (my next fight)," Stevenson told "The Ariel Helwani Show" on Monday. "I don't put it past him (to accept it). Whenever he picks up the phone and says, 'Yo, let's make this fight happen,' it will happen."

A potential matchup between Davis and Stevenson, the top two lightweights in the world, has been discussed for years but has yet to materialize. Stevenson said he wants to sit down and talk to Davis himself about a deal for the fight.

"This is the biggest fight in the world. This is the biggest fight in the sport of boxing," Stevenson said. "Everybody wants to see this. Casuals, noncasuals, boxing fans, everybody wants to see this fight."

Stevenson said he'd prefer the bout to take place in a stadium in New York. The 28-year-old is from Newark, while Davis, 30, was born in Baltimore.

"We're both from the East Coast," Stevenson said. "Where's the biggest stadium ... in New York? MetLife? That's where we gotta fight."
