Jake Paul's next fight will come against a professional boxer with more experience than him.

The YouTube star turned prizefighter will take on Andre August on Dec. 15 in Orlando, Florida, his Most Valuable Promotions company announced Wednesday.

The bout will be eight rounds and contested at cruiserweight (200 pounds). It will stream on DAZN via subscription, not pay-per-view.

August will be by far Paul's most experienced opponent. August has a 10-1-1 record with five knockouts, while Paul stands at 7-1 with four knockouts.

Paul has mostly fought older MMA fighters throughout his three-year boxing career. He's built a large audience and an impressive highlight reel but has also been criticized for not fighting real boxers.

"I'm a professional boxer, and I want to be world champion, so I need to pursue the path towards greatness against people who have been boxing their whole life," Paul said in a release.

"So far, my entire boxing career has been on pay-per-view, but now it's about more than business. Now, I want to build my experience in the ring against seasoned fighters."

Paul is coming off a unanimous decision win over former UFC star Nate Diaz in a 10-round bout in August. The 26-year-old got back on track after suffering the first defeat of his career in February, a split decision against rival Tommy Fury. Paul has also beaten former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley (twice).

"(Paul is) once again doing what very few of the best and biggest boxers in the world have done in their ninth professional fight: fighting someone with a better record and more experience," Paul's adviser and business partner Nakisa Bidarian said.

August, who was born in Beaumont, Texas, and lives in Houston, has been a pro boxer since 2013. The 35-year-old is riding a five-fight winning streak. His most recent fight took place in August after he spent nearly four years away from the sport. August's lone loss came via TKO in 2018.

This will be August's first eight-round fight. He's small for the division at 5-foot-10. Paul, meanwhile, is 6-foot-1. The combined record of August's opponents is 34-65-6, according to TSN's Aaron Bronsteter.
