Report: Tyson-Jones earns over 1M pay-per-view buys in U.S.
Last weekend's exhibition match between all-time greats Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. generated more than 1 million pay-per-view buys in the United States, boxing journalist Dan Rafael reports, citing sources.
The event likely sold around 1.2 million pay-per-views, Rafael adds, which includes traditional linear pay-per-view, the FiteTV digital app, and DirecTV/Dish Network.
For comparison, the heavyweight title bout between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder in February reportedly generated between 800,000 and 1.2 million buys.
Tyson, a former world heavyweight champion, returned to the ring Saturday for the first time in 15 years. He fought Jones to a draw after eight two-minute rounds at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Jones, a former world titleholder in four weight classes, hadn't competed since 2018.
The card also featured a match between YouTube star Jake Paul and former NBA player Nate Robinson. Paul won via a devastating knockout in the second round.
