Holyfield tells Tyson he once bit opponent too
Evander Holyfield says he was able to forgive Mike Tyson for biting part of his ear off because he once did something similar in the ring.
Holyfield made the admission on the latest episode of the "Hotboxin' With Mike Tyson" podcast.
"Life always been great 'cause the whole big thing is, (I) made this plan that I will forgive, 'cause that's all people ask me – 'How in the world could you forgive somebody?' I say, 'Everything that ever happened, at some point in time, I did it,'" Holyfield said in a clip that TMZ Sports shared. "I said, now, 'Mike bit me.' I said, now, 'I bit somebody too ... it just wasn't on TV.'
"I bit a guy in his shoulder. He dropped me, and I didn't know when you had a concussion, you'll bite too," Holyfield continued. "The guy dropped me and I got up, I got ready to swing and he grabbed me and I bit him right on the shoulder."
The ear-biting incident occurred during the second fight between Holyfield and Tyson on June 28, 1997. Tyson was subsequently disqualified and had his boxing license revoked, though it was later reinstated.
"This is so interesting, right, how many people have paid me money to take pictures biting their ear," Tyson said. "I recouped my $3 million dollars I was penalized for."
