Oleksandr Usyk sent a letter to the WBA on Wednesday, vacating his cruiserweight title with a desire to move up to heavyweight, according to ESPN's Dan Rafael.
"That's what this is all about," Usyk's manager, Egis Klimas, said of the move to heavyweight.
The change in class likely precedes a heavyweight title fight against Anthony Joshua.
Usyk carries a record of 16-0, with 12 wins by knockout.
