Report: Wilder, Fury agree to fight later this year
Undefeated heavyweight stars Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury have reportedly agreed to fight later this year. The bout is contingent on the Englishman beating Francesco Pianeta Saturday, according to The Ring's Mike Coppinger.
Wilder attended Friday's weigh-in for the tilt, exchanging choice words with Fury and his father. The WBC heavyweight champion is expected to be ringside for the battle in Belfast with hopes of a Fury victory, which would secure the most high-profile bout of his 40-fight career.
Fury, 30, returned from a near-three-year hiatus from the sport this past June with a victory over Sefer Seferi. He enters the bout with Pianeta with a 26-0 record.
Wilder, 32, last fought in March, knocking out Luis Ortiz in Round 10 to push his record to 40-0. The Alabama native has now defended his WBC championship seven straight times after capturing the title in January 2015.
