It sucks when you get your ass kicked in a division rival series on the road," Boone said, according to <a href="https://x.com/YESNetwork/status/1940968297479958566">YES Network</a>.</p><p>Thursday's 8-5 loss marked the first time the Blue Jays have swept the Yankees in a four-game series at home. The loss dropped New York out of first place in the American League East, one game behind the Canadian club.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The four consecutive losses, three of which came in July, followed a mediocre June for the Bronx Bombers: They posted a .481 winning percentage after entering the month 14 games above .500 and holding a 5.5-game division lead.</p><p>"We will get through this. The 33-year-old is tied for fourth in the majors with 26 home runs and leads Arizona in RBIs. His .874 OPS is also his highest since receiving downballot MVP consideration in 2019 when he played for the Cincinnati Reds.</p><p>The veteran's production makes him a valuable trade piece for the D-Backs, who remain in the postseason picture but have been ravaged by injuries.</p><p>Arizona's general manager Mike Hazen has said he would like to be a buyer as the trade deadline approaches, but the next few weeks will be a big factor in the team's direction.</p><p>"I'm hopeful this is going to turn around and we put ourselves in the conversation to be buying," Hazen said June 10, according to <a href="https://www.mlb.com/dbacks/news/mike-hazen-on-d-backs-2025-trade-deadline-role?t=walk-offs">MLB.com's Steve Gilbert</a>.</p><p>"I hope the players put us in a conversation to be buying a month from now, month-and-a-half from now, but we gotta get going."</p><p>Suárez is owed the remainder of his $15-million salary for this season before becoming a free agent at the end of the campaign.</p>

<p>Former Texas Rangers outfielder <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/3895" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/3895">Kevin Pillar</a> said he was surprised by the culture of his previous team after announcing his retirement Wednesday.</p><p>Pillar, who contemplated retirement after the 2024 season, opted instead to sign with the Rangers, expecting to join a winning group after they were crowned World Series champions in 2023.</p><p>"Them coming off of winning a World Series a couple years ago, that was the team that I thought I was joining," Pillar said on <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrA_cLclh6M">"Foul Territory."</a></p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The veteran outfielder appeared in 20 games for the Rangers before he was designated for assignment May 25. He said that during his brief time with the Rangers, they didn't resemble winning environments he was part of in Toronto with the Blue Jays and in Atlanta with the Braves.</p><p>"I thought they would be a little bit tighter as a group," he said. "I thought it would be kinda like my experience in Atlanta. ... Everyone just pulled on the same rope, everyone wanted to hang out, everyone wanted to do everything together, winning was the most important thing every day."</p><p>Pillar added, "In Texas, there's a lot of talent in there. There's just a lot of individual stuff going on. A lot of guys are doing their own thing. You might not see people till the game goes on. ... Not a lot of BP, not a lot of stretching together."</p><p>Pillar also suggested the Rangers could have done a better job of handling letting him go by providing him one more chance to play in front of family and friends, knowing he was close to retirement.</p><p>Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young responded to Pillar's comments Wednesday.</p><p>"Kevin's a really good guy. I don't think he means to cause any harm. <p>Athletics right-hander <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/4775" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/4775">Luis Severino</a> admitted playing home games at Sutter Health Ballpark in West Sacramento this season has been challenging.</p><p>"It feels like a spring training kind of game every time I pitch, and every time other guys pitch," Severino said Friday, according to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6457526/2025/06/27/luis-severino-athletics-sacramento-ballpark-complaints/">The Athletic's Brendan Kuty</a>.</p><p>"It's the same mentality we have, to go out there and try to do our best. But it's not been great for us."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The 31-year-old has struggled at home this season, posting an 0-7 record in 10 starts alongside a 6.79 ERA. On the road, he's been much better, logging a 2.27 ERA with a far superior WHIP and opponent's batting average.</p><p>"Because we play in a big-league stadium on the road," Severino said while explaining his splits.</p><p>"We don't have that at home right now. It's not the same. It’s not the same atmosphere. We don't have a lot of fans. Our clubhouse is in left field. So, when we play day games, we have to just be in the sun. There's no air conditioning there, too. It's really tough."</p><p>The A's, who are 15-27 at home compared to 18-24 on the road, will continue to play in West Sacramento until the end of the 2027 campaign. </p><p>Severino's three-year, $67-million contract expires at the end of 2027, although he can opt out of his deal after 2026.</p>
