Stefanos Tsitsipas has advanced to the fourth round at the French Open by winning his 36th match of the year, the most on the men’s tour. And the last American man in the draw has been eliminated.
Seeded fifth, Tsitsipas rallied to beat No. 31 John Isner 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (3), 6-1 in a match that ended shortly before midnight. U.S. men went 0-4 in Friday’s play, and Isner has now lost 13 consecutive matches when facing an opponent ranked in the top five.
Tsitsipas, a semifinalist last year, will next face No. 12 Pablo Carreno Busta.
