Roger Federer defeated Serena Williams in a historic battle of legends at the Hopman Cup on Tuesday.
Federer and partner Belinda Bencic helped Switzerland get the win over the USA's Williams and Frances Tiafoe 4-2, 4-3 (5-3) to break the 1-1 tie after the teams' singles matchups.
It was the first time Federer and Williams met in a professional setting. The two entered the battle with a combined 43 grand slams through their prestigious careers.
"The guy is great. He's the greatest of all time to be honest," Williams said of Federer after the match. "Both on the court and off the court, he has such charisma. He's just a wonderful player."
