Nadal, Djokovic cruise into 2nd round with straight-sets wins
A living legend and the defending champion are both through to the second round at the French Open, as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic both cruised to straight-sets victories on Monday
The Spaniard began his quest for an incredible 10th title at Roland Garros with a matchup against Benoit Paire, and got through with ease at 6-1, 6-4, 6-1. With the victory, Nadal is now an absurd 75-2 in his career at the French Open.
Djokovic looked strong in his first match with new coach, Andre Agassi, knocking out Spain's Marcel Granollers 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. With only one title this season, critics had begun questioning the Serbian standout, but Monday's performance should quiet those for the time being.
Nadal will face Robin Haase in the second round after the Dutch standout easily handled Alex De Minaur on Monday, while Djokovic will square off with the winner of Joao Sousa and Janko Tipsarevic.
