Nadal expects to be ready for Wimbledon

Rafael Nadal's French Open may be over due to injury, but he still plans on going to Wimbledon next month.

Despite being forced to pull out of the tournament Friday because of a wrist injury, the Spaniard expects he'll be healthy enough to chase a third Wimbledon crown.

"We're going to work hard to be ready for Wimbledon," Nadal said. "I need a couple of weeks (with the wrist) immobilized. Then we're going to do the treatment and we hope that works well. We expect to recover quick and to be ready for Wimbledon."

Nadal's game has tapered in recent years and nowhere was that more evident than Wimbledon. The 29-year-old hasn't reached the quarterfinals there since 2011.

That said, Nadal's play looked sharper in recent months and he appeared to be in very good form before the wrist injury forced him out of Roland Garros. If it heals quickly, perhaps Nadal can pick up where he left off.
