Cristiano Ronaldo declares himself fit to play against Germany
Ding, dong, the witch (doctor) is dead. Or at the very least, ineffective.
Cristiano Ronaldo told members of the media during a Sunday press conference — for which he was 45 minutes late — that he will be on the pitch when Portugal take on Germany in their opening World Cup match tomorrow.
"The problems are all in the past," he was quoted as saying about his fitness.
The star winger has been hampered by a lingering knee injury of late, which caused concerns over his potential involvement in the highly-anticipated contest against the Germans.
Ronaldo, 29, left Thursday's training session with an ice pack over his left knee, sending many in the footballing world into a panic. However, he was able to complete an entire practice the following day, and in truth, it has always seemed like he'd be ready by the time Monday's match came along.
