Police in Sao Paulo use stun guns, rubber bullets and tear gas on protestors and media

Journalists in Sao Paulo — ahead of today's opening World Cup match — are painting an especially horrific picture of how the police are handling protests in the area.

As we see from this image, protestors and the media are situated in close proximity:

It seems that shortly after this photo, things quickly escalated.

As soon as the police targeted protestors, they were essentially targeting the journalists as well. Brazil Bureau Chief Shasta Darlington was injured in the melee.

Obviously, it wasn't just journalists that were injured in the attack on the seemingly peaceful protest.
