Washington can make history if Fultz gets drafted No. 1 overall

The WNBA draft was held Thursday night and with the first overall pick the Stars selected the all-time leading scorer in women's college basketball history Kelsey Plum from Washington.

While that in its own right is certainly a significant achievement for the university, Washington can make history in June if Markelle Fultz is taken No. 1 overall in the NBA draft.

Most pundits have the star point guard being the first name off the board, and according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello, the Huskies will be the first program to have the No. 1 overall pick in both the NBA and WNBA drafts in the same year if that's the case.

The women's team had a banner year by any measurement, advancing to the Sweet 16 before falling to national finalist Mississippi State. The men's team had a disastrous season despite the brilliance of Fultz, posting a 9-22 record that led to the firing of head coach Lorenzo Romar.
