Former West Ham United, Newcastle United, and Chelsea striker Demba Ba says he won't retire from football after suffering a gruesome leg break while on Shanghai Shenhua duty Sunday.
The 31-year-old had been taking the Chinese Super League by storm since his transfer last summer, boasting a record of 14 goals in 18 appearances this season, but fell to the injury during a clash with Shanghai SIPG.
"This is a really bad injury but I can overcome it. I won't call time on my career, that's for sure," Ba told reporters.
He added, "The season here ends in November and the new one starts in March. I'll do my best to return in time for the season after that."
Ba's transfer from Besiktas to the cash-rich Chinese Super League was valued at £12 million, a cost which pales in comparison to the division's other imports, including the likes of Jackson Martinez, Hulk, and Ramires.
