World No. 1 Rory McIlroy has his sights set on adding to his trophy case.

McIlroy received the European Tour's Golfer of the Year and the Players' Player of the Year awards for 2014 on Tuesday, and told Sky Sports he has plans to pick up more hardware this calendar year.

"There are three majors left and I feel two of those venues could suit me - St Andrews (the Open) and Whistling Straits (PGA Championship)," McIlroy said.

"Chambers Bay is a bit of an unknown at the U.S. Open in a few weeks, so (I've) got two great opportunities to add to the major tally."

McIlroy finished tied for third at the 2010 Open Championship at St. Andrews despite shooting an 80 during the second round. He also finished tied for third at Whistling Straits during the 2010 PGA Championship, missing a playoff by one stroke.

It's understandable that McIlroy is less sure about how he'll fare at Chambers Bay, since the course is making its major championship debut at this year's U.S. Open. But the Irishman remains optimistic.

"(T)here are two great opportunities for major titles and a lot of other opportunities for wins. I'd also like to increase my lead in the World Ranking."

Coming off his third victory of 2015 at Quail Hollow last week - his seventh win of the past twelve months - McIlroy has no reason to believe his luck will run out any time soon.

His average point total of 13.3 currently leads world No. 2 Jordan Spieth in the World Golf Rankings by 4.46 points. There are currently only 14 golfers in the world with average point totals above 4.46.
