Everyone's scrambling for answers after Team USA submitted yet another shaky performance at Rio 2016.

The United States' decade-long, 72-game undefeated streak is under fire. On the heels of a back-and-forth affair against scrappy Australia, Team USA barely clung onto a three-point victory against Serbia.

DeMarcus Cousins pointed to a lack of mental fortitude. His teammate Paul George says they're playing too much one-on-one.

"Once again, we relied on natural talent. This is why these guys are special in our league," George told Michael Lee of The Vertical. "We're still scoring 100 points, taking one-on-five shots, but we're too good for that."

Team USA needed an unconscious shooting performance by Carmelo Anthony to squeak by a hard-charging Australian side. It was more of their defense that let them down against Serbia, but for a second straight game, the Americans failed to crack 50 percent shooting from the field despite their overabundance of All-Stars.

All that being said, the Americans are talented enough to skate through based on their abilities. They're the top scoring team in the tournament by a significant margin.

But it does make for a stark contrast when their unimaginative one-on-one attack is pitted against teams with carefully orchestrated offenses.

"This is why these guys are special in our league," George said of opposing teams. "These international guys really know how to move and really know how to cut. It's more about how they're running their offense. It's wearing us down."

George's point is simple: Team USA is already great on account of their talent, but if they play together as a team, the Americans would be unbeatable.
