Grubauer has been named the starter both Wednesday against the Maple Leafs and Saturday against the Bruins.

Analysis:

Grubauer doesn't normally receive consistent action in goal, but the Capitals playing back-to-back games twice this week led to two scheduled starts for the backup netminder. His last appearance in net came in relief of Braden Holtby on Feb. 24, and he took the loss despite stopping 15 of the 16 shots faced in the contest. The 24-year-old has been solid in limited action this season, compiling a 6-5-1 record with a 2.11 GAA and .926 save percentage in 15 appearances. His splits tend to favor home ice a bit, so Wednesday may be a good night to look his way against the Leafs, losers of six of their last seven games.
