Analysis:

The news leaves the Hurricanes without their top blueliner and just six healthy ones as they prepare for tough matchups in the Sharks and Lightning. Coach Bill Peters indicated that the Hurricanes will be smart about the way they handle Faulk's injury, so it's not a big surprise they're going the precautionary route considering the team's third to last placement in the Metropolitan Division standings.
