Blackhawks' Kane could be happier with his game

In the midst of a career-best 16-game point streak and on pace to score the most points since Joe Thornton's 125-point 2005-06 season, most would assume Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane would be very pleased with his production.

But the 27-year-old feels he should be playing even better.

"I don't know if I'm extremely happy with my game right now," Kane said Saturday, according to Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago. "I want to improve a little bit here, especially going into the California trip, create more scoring chances out there. Hopefully a couple of days off and I'll feel good going into California."

Kane admits his current scoring streak - he's just two games behind the 18-game record for an American-born player, shared by Phil Kessel and Blackhawks TV analyst Eddie Olczyk - has been a distraction from focusing on all facets of his game.

"The past few days I might have been thinking about it a little too much. So I kind of want to get that out of my head and play hockey, not worry about wherever the streak is at," he said. "Just play and worry about my game and the next game up, whether I get points or I don't. Just try to play the same way every game."

He will have a chance to improve on his near-historic run as the Blackhawks wrap up their annual "Circus Trip." They will face the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday before a back-to-back in Anaheim and Los Angeles starting Friday.
