Arizona Coyotes forward Joe Vitale and Boston Bruins defenseman Kevan Miller engaged in one of the season's most spirited fights Saturday night, but the bout forced Vitale to hospital.

Head coach Dave Tippett said after the game that Vitale was taken to hospital for X-rays, according to Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic.

Vitale appeared to be affected by the fight in the immediate aftermath and eventually left for the dressing room, according to FOX Sports Arizona's Craig Morgan.

The Coyotes later announced that he suffered an upper-body injury and would not return.

The two combatants dropped the gloves early in the second period.
