Bryan Bickell clears waivers, will begin season with Blackhawks

Chicago Blackhawks forward Bryan Bickell has cleared waivers.
Bickell will begin the season with the Blackhawks, head coach Joel Quenneville said Saturday, according to Chris Hine of the Chicago Tribune.
He was placed on waivers Friday.
Bickell said the Blackhawks didn't explain to him why he was put on waivers. He plans to use it as motivation.

The 29-year-old winger is under contract at a cap hit of $4 million for the next two seasons.
Bickell scored 14 goals and added 14 assists in 80 games for Chicago last season. The Blackhawks made him a second-round pick in 2004.
