Contract negotiations between Ladd and the Jets have stagnated, Gary Lawless of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Analysis:

Ladd is set to become a UFA after the 2015-16 campaign, so the Jets had hoped to get him locked down long-term before the start of the upcoming season. It appears that hope has become increasingly unlikely of late, as Ladd is considering ceasing negotiations with Winnipeg once the regular season gets underway. It's unfortunate that the two sides haven't been able to come together on a deal thus far. Ladd has served as the franchise's captain for the past six years, and enjoyed the best statistical season of his career in 2014-15, tallying a career-high 62 points in 81 games with the Jets.
