Coach Bill Peters was critical of Skinner's line following Tuesday's 7-3 preseason loss to the Penguins, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.

Analysis:

Skinner, who scored a second-period goal, skated primarily on the top line with Victor Rask and Elias Lindholm, and Peters said he did not like what he saw. "I didn't think the Rask line was able to compete," Peters said following the game. "They're young kids and whether it was just a preseason game or not I don't know, but they weren't up to that quality." Since scoring 63 points as a rookie five seasons ago, Skinner has been hampered by injuries and inconsistent play, making him a risky fantasy pick. We need to see more from him before recommending him as an everyday option - draft with caution.
