NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly says Patrick Kane's playing status hasn't changed despite Wednesday's claims that the accuser's rape kit was tampered with in the ongoing sexual assault investigation involving the forward.

"I don't think (Wednesday's) developments really have any direct impact on Kane's status from the league's standpoint," Daly said, according to Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune.

The lawyer for Kane's accuser presented the evidence bag that once held the rape kit at a press conference Wednesday, revealing that it had been anonymously delivered to her mother's doorstep.

Kane has been a normal participant at Chicago Blackhawks training camp and played in a preseason game Tuesday night.

He has not been charged with a crime.
