Fantasy - Dump and Chase: 5 players to target in a trade

Every Thursday, we examine three players you should consider acquiring on the trade front in your hockey pool.

Two weeks into the NHL season, and fantasy managers are beginning to get a sense of what to expect from their rosters of assembled talent. Some, however, aren't getting quite what they bargained for from high-end talent, opening the door for trade opportunities and buy-low scenarios.

Here are five players to target in a trade this week.

Rangers F Rick Nash

Nash, who netted a career-high 42 goals for the Rangers last season, has been held to two assists through seven games.

But while he's been unable to find the back of the net, he sure is trying, with 34 shot attempts at even strength and 24 total shots.

As a 12.4 percent shooter for his career, the goals will come sooner than later for Nash, who should still push for at least 30 if healthy all season long.

Ducks F Ryan Getzlaf, F Corey Perry

The Ducks have largely been grounded to start the season, with a total of five goals in five games. This from a team that ranked 10th in goals for and averaged 2.87 per game in 2014-15.

For years, and as one of the NHL's most formidable duos, Getzlaf and Perry have been the straws that stir the drink for Anaheim. Both are without a goal, with a lone assist each, and therefore primed to break out at any moment.

Of greater concern, perhaps, is the fact Perry has recorded only six shots on goal, but this may prompt current managers to be even more willing to part with the generally high-producing winger.

Kings D Drew Doughty

Pegged as a Norris Trophy candidate to kick off the season, Doughty has one assist and 12 shots in five games to his credit.

Much like the Ducks, the Kings as a whole are off to a rough start, with only six goals through five games.

Still, Doughty is a top-10 defenseman in terms of shot attempts at even strength, and he ranks fourth in shots. Once the Kings' offense gets rolling, Doughty - its key cog on the back end - will be the driver, with points sure to follow.

Bruins G Tuukka Rask

A number of seemingly high-end goalies have struggled mightily to begin the season, namely Rask, Sergei Bobrovsky, and Semyon Varlamov. It's the former who's best positioned to bounce back.

Out of the three teams represented above, Rask's Bruins seem to have the best chance of racking up a decent amount of wins, and with a healthy Zdeno Chara back in the mix - and possible improvements to the blue line as the season progresses - his Boston teammates should lend him the support needed to drastically improve his numbers.

Make a play, and hope his owner believes the Bruins are down for the count.
