Ron Wilson covets a better conclusion to his hockey story.

After a three-year coaching hiatus, the long-time NHL bench boss and USA Hockey pillar has recently embarked on a first, returning to the ice to lead the United States' World Junior bid.

The job is often reserved for head coaching prospects, but Wilson sees his opportunity as one for closure.

"Wilson doesn't intend to leverage potential success at this tournament into another professional job," TSN's John Lu reports. "He considers this a chance to write a satisfying final chapter to his coaching career with USA Hockey."

The 60-year-old, now instructing teenagers, coached 18 seasons in the NHL, as well as in two Olympics and a World Cup triumph in 1996.

His last job was a woeful three-and-a-half year stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs, which came to an end when he was fired late in the 2011-12 season.
