Report: Dave Nonis expected to take senior advisor position with Ducks

Bill Streicher / USA TODAY Sports

Dave Nonis won't be out of work for too long.

The former general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs is expected to take a senior advisor position with the Anaheim Ducks after July 1, according to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun.

Nonis held a similar position with the Ducks in 2008, working under Brian Burke, who he had previously supplanted as GM of the Vancouver Canucks.

He later followed Burke to Toronto, where he once again assumed the GM duties post-Burke.

Nonis was let go by the Maple Leafs a day after the end of the regular season following two disappointing years on the job.
