Report: Bruins unlikely to re-sign Soderberg

It looks as though Carl Soderberg may have played his last game with the Boston Bruins.

The club is expected to let the centerman hit the open market, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported during Saturday's Headlines segment.

"Word out of the combine was Boston told Soderberg that it is very unlikely they will be able to sign him," said Friedman. "They have to deal with Dougie Hamilton, they've got cap issues, so now teams will start to look at him as a possible free-agent solution."

Soderberg will become an unrestricted free agent July 1 and after making just $1 million last season, the 29-year-old is in line for a raise.

Meanwhile, the Bruins will have its focus on locking down restricted free agent Hamilton, who reportedly could seek as much as $6-7 million.

Soderberg had 13 goals and 44 points in 82 games during the regular season.
