Ex-players: NHL 'wildly' overestimating medical record cost in concussion lawsuit

Marc DesRosiers / USA TODAY Sports

The estimated $13.5 million cost to produce medical records for nearly 6,000 former players is "wildly flawed and unrealistic" according to those imposing the concussion lawsuit on the NHL, TSN's Rick Westhead reports.

In addition, former players suggest that the league is unjustly comparing privacy concerns associated with retrieving the medical information to "the disclosure (of) late-term abortion records."

The refuted cost, along with associated privacy concerns, was considered by the NHL as grounds to deny the request, as stated by the league two weeks ago.

A group of 60 players are suing the NHL over the perceived link between brain injuries suffered in their playing days with resultant long-term effects.
