Lightning's Callahan on possible Stanley Cup Final: 'This is what you dream about'

It's come full circle for Ryan Callahan.

The Tampa Bay Lightning forward, acquired from the New York Rangers last season, has been dreaming about playing for the Stanley Cup his whole career and he's one win away from achieving his dream.

Callahan, 30, watched last season as the team he was traded from - and was formerly the captain of - advanced to the Stanley Cup Final; a turn of events that wasn't easy to digest.

"It was hard, there's no question," Callahan said. "That's where I grew up, where I started, captain of the team. It was very tough for me to leave that organization, but I couldn't have landed in a better spot. I'm very happy here in Tampa."

His first full season with the Lighting was successful, as the forward matched his career best point total of 54.

With his new team one win away from ending the season of his old mates, would Callahan feel any extra motivation?

"I don't think you need any more motivation," said Callahan. "This is what you dream about, this opportunity to advance to the Stanley Cup Final."

The Lightning and Rangers will square off in Game 6 Tuesday in Tampa.
