Ducks' Boudreau on Getzlaf: 'We all want him to shoot more'

He may be tied for second in playoff scoring, but the Anaheim Ducks would still like to see more from Ryan Getzlaf.

Getzlaf has 16 points in 12 games during the postseason, but his teammates and the coaching staff know there's more to come from their captain.

"We all want him to shoot more," Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau told reporters Friday. "As you saw in Game 2, when he came down the wing, hit the crossbar, his shot is so good.

"Believe me, as coaches there's times during the course of the year we could wring his neck because he doesn't shoot it."

Though his 16 points are just two behind the Tampa Bay Lightning's Tyler Johnson for the the most in the postseason, only two of those points are goals.

Getzlaf has a 5.9% shooting percentage in the postseason, down from 13.1% during the regular season.

The 30-year-old says he understands the pressure from others to shoot the puck more.

"There's games where I think I have opportunities to shoot that I don't," Getzlaf said. "Sometimes I kick myself for it. Most of the time I try and go out there and execute what I feel is the best fit for that play.

"I'm not going to shoot a whole ton but I'll try to take my opportunities when they're there. There's always going to be people telling me to shoot more. I accepted that after my first year in the League."

The Ducks have lost just two games during the postseason, so whatever the team - including Getzlaf - is doing, it's working.
