Dreger: Maple Leafs believed to be in contact with former NHL coach Guy Boucher

Guy Boucher could be the next head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Maple Leafs have reportedly been in contact with the former Tampa Bay Lightning coach, according to TSN's Darren Dreger. Boucher alluded to receiving interest from teams during a Monday radio appearance.

Toronto is searching for a new coach and general manager after gutting its front office following a disastrous season. Boucher's NHL experience is limited to coaching, so the Maple Leafs will likely still need a general manager if they hire him.

The Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers have also been mentioned as teams possibly interested in Boucher's services.

Tampa Bay fired Boucher in March 2013 and he took a coaching job in Europe in 2014. He amassed a 97-78-20 record with the Lightning, leading the team to the Eastern Conference finals in 2011.
