Price, Ovechkin, Benn named finalists for Ted Lindsay Award

The players have spoken: Carey Price, Alex Ovechkin and Jamie Benn are their choices for Ted Lindsay Award finalists.

The Ted Lindsay Award is given to the NHL's most outstanding player from the regular season, but - unlike the Hart Trophy - it is chosen by members of the NHLPA instead of journalists. Both Price and Ovechkin were nominated for both awards, while Benn was snubbed in favor of John Tavares on Hart Trophy ballots.

Price looks set to stuff his trophy case following a career season where he set a Montreal Canadiens record for wins. He captured a share of the William M. Jennings Trophy and has also been named a finalist for the Vezina Trophy along with the Hart and Ted Lindsay. 

Ovechkin scored 53 goals - 10 more than any other player in the league. The Washington Capitals captain lifted his team back into the playoffs with 36 goals in the final 45 games of the season.

Benn won the Art Ross Trophy with a league-leading 87 points after finishing the season with a four-point effort to move past Tavares in the scoring race. The Dallas Stars captain required hip surgery after the season ended, making his scoring feat even more impressive.
