Andrew Ladd is kicking off the summer with a bit of surgery.
The Winnipeg Jets captain - named Monday as a finalist for the NHL's Mark Messier Leadership Award - will undergo a procedure to repair a sports hernia injury Friday in St. Louis, he revealed Tuesday.
Ladd recorded a career-high 62 points in 81 regular season games, but recorded only one assist during the playoffs while hindered by the injury.
A timeline for his recovery will be made known once the surgery has taken place.
