Weekend Sports In Brief

NBA PLAYOFFS

BOSTON (AP) Kevin Love dislocated his left shoulder Sunday on what he said was a ''bush-league'' play.

Cleveland's power forward was injured in the first quarter of the Cavaliers' 101-93 victory that completed a four-game sweep when he and Boston's Kelly Olynyk chased a loose ball into the left corner after Jae Crowder of the Celtics missed a 3-pointer.

Olynyk's right arm became entangled with Love's left arm. Love then grabbed his arm and kept running toward the Cleveland bench before going to the locker room, where he iced his shoulder. Olynyk was charged with a non-shooting foul.

''I thought it was a bush-league play,'' Love said after the game while wearing a sling. ''I have no doubt in my mind that he did it on purpose.''

Boston coach Brad Stevens said he didn't think Olynyk hurt Love on purpose.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Wizards emphatically completed the first sweep of a seven-game series in club history, getting 23 points from Bradley Beal and 21 points and 11 rebounds from Marcin Gortat to beat the Toronto Raptors 125-94 Sunday night.

Paul Pierce, who repeatedly said he didn't want to have to go back through U.S. Customs for any more games in Canada, added 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter as Washington's lead reached 32 entering the fourth.

Washington has reached the second round of the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time since getting to the NBA Finals in 1979, a year after winning the title.

Next up for the Wizards will be No. 1 seed Atlanta or No. 8 Brooklyn.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Memphis point guard Mike Conley will not play Monday night in Game 4 of the Grizzlies' playoff series with the Portland Trail Blazers because of a facial injury.

The team said Sunday that Conley was returning to Memphis for additional evaluation.

Conley left Saturday night's Game 3 in the third quarter after he appeared to be caught inadvertently by Portland guard CJ McCollum's elbow while going after the ball.

BASEBALL

NEW YORK (AP) - Alex Rodriguez has hit his 659th home run, putting him one behind Willie Mays for fourth place on the career list.

The three-time MVP connected off New York Mets left-hander Jonathon Niese in the first inning of the Subway Series finale Sunday night at Yankee Stadium, won by the Yankees 6-4. Rodriguez drove a 2-2 curve to right-center, with the ball bouncing off the top of the fence for a solo shot.

It was the fifth homer of the season for A-Rod, who sat out last year while serving a drug suspension.

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Adam Wainwright, the St. Louis Cardinals' ace, was set to undergo an MRI exam Monday to determine the extent of an injury to his left Achilles and ankle. He's already on the 15-day disabled list and the team was bracing for bad news, leaving the 6-foot-7 right-hander to put a brave face on a dire scenario.

The 33-year-old Wainwright had to be helped off the field after getting injured stumbling out of the batter's box after popping out.

MIAMI (AP) - Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer will likely be scratched from his next scheduled start Tuesday at Atlanta because of a sprained right thumb.

The right-hander threw off flat ground before Sunday's game at Miami but said his thumb is still sore. He jammed it batting Thursday against St. Louis.

NHL PLAYOFFS

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) - Carey Price made 43 saves, Brendan Gallagher scored in the first period, and the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Ottawa Senators 2-0 Sunday night to advance to the second round of the NHL playoffs.

Max Pacioretty sealed the win with an empty-net goal with 1 second remaining.

Montreal won the best-of-seven series in six games, but lost two in a row after taking a 3-0 series lead - and Ottawa nearly sent it to a deciding seventh game.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Zach Parise scored twice, including a short-handed, highlight-reel goal to get Minnesota going in the first period, and the Wild advanced to the Western Conference semifinals with a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday in Game 6.

Justin Fontaine also scored, Nino Niederreiter added an empty-net goal and the Wild set up a rematch of their second-round loss last year to Chicago. The Blackhawks beat Nashville in six games to move on.

The Blues had their third straight first-round ouster.

GOLF

DALY CITY, Calif. (AP) - Lydia Ko celebrated another birthday week at Lake Merced with another victory Sunday in the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic.

Ko won for the second straight year, this time beating Morgan Pressel on the second playoff hole by rolling in a 5-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th for her seventh career LPGA Tour victory. She turned 18 on Friday.

Ko made two birdies in the three times she played the closing hole at Lake Merced. She made an 8-footer in regulation to close with a 2-under 70.

AVONDALE, La. (AP) - Justin Rose birdied the final two holes Sunday to win the Zurich Classic.

Rose, who entered the week ranked ninth in the world, completed a 7-under 65 in the rain-delayed third round and closed with a 66 at TPC Louisiana for his seventh PGA Tour title.

The Englishman has won at least once in six straight seasons, the second-longest streak on the tour behind Dustin Johnson's eight straight.

Playing aggressively on a soggy course, Rose made six birdies in the final round and played the last 66 holes without a bogey. He finished at 22-under 266.

RIDGEDALE, Mo. (AP) - Joe Durant had a hole-in-one and teamed with Billy Andrade to win the Champions Tour's Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf on Sunday at Big Cedar Lodge.

Andrade and Durant closed with a 9-under 45 at the par-3 Top of the Rock course, playing nine holes of modified alternate shot and nine of better ball. Durant aced the third hole on the second nine, using a 7-iron on the 167-yard hole.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from the Match Play Championship because of personal reasons.

Mickelson did not elaborate in a short statement Sunday released by the PGA Tour. Mickelson says he is happy with the new format and he likes Harding Park as a venue for the 64-man field. He said only that it was unfortunate he would not be able to play this year.

Mickelson was replaced by Mikko Ilonen of Finland. Mickelson has not played since his runner-up finish at the Masters.

AUTO RACING

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Kurt Busch dominated once he took the lead and won the rain-delayed NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway on Sunday.

Busch led 291 of the 400 laps on the 0.75-mile oval, and outran Stewart-Haas Racing teammate Kevin Harvick over the final dozen laps to end a 35-race winless streak.

The driver, who missed the first three races of the season while serving a suspension for conduct off the track, won for the 26th time in his career, likely putting him into the Chase for the championship.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Josef Newgarden held off a hard-charging Graham Rahal on Sunday in the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama for his first IndyCar Series victory.

Newgarden got his milestone win at Barber Motorsports Park a few hours from his hometown of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Rahal finally slipped past Scott Dixon on the final lap after several tries, giving the American drivers a 1-2 finish.

SOCCER

LONDON (AP) - Chelsea midfielder Oscar was taken to a hospital to undergo checks on Sunday, with the club unsure if he had sustained a concussion after colliding with an opponent during the match at Arsenal.

The Brazilian was injured around 15 minutes into the 0-0 Premier League draw when Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina clattered into him with both hands. Chelsea's doctor came onto the field to attend to Oscar but he returned to action and was only substituted at halftime.
