Bruins GM: 'Business as usual' after missing playoffs; Paille, Campbell won't be back

It's business as usual for a Boston Bruins club whose season was anything but ordinary.

That was the word from general manager Peter Chiarelli on Monday, who held court with head coach Claude Julien after the team failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in eight years.

While he admitted all aspects of the organization are under review following this season's failure, leading to speculation jobs may be in jeopardy, Chiarelli said he and Julien are in the process of conducting exit interviews with the players and are going about their regular business until they hear otherwise.

The club has, however, decided to cut ties with a pair of fourth-line players.

This fits with the areas in which Chiarelli is looking to improve the team, namely by transitioning the puck better and increasing scoring.

For his part, Julien stated he doesn't feel his message was lost on the players, and acknowledged they played hard until the end. "Players believe in what we're trying to do here and accomplish as a team," he said.

At the same time, however, he admitted he didn't get the most out of certain players.

Milan Lucic was singled out as one of those players. He admitted to the GM that he was affected by how last season ended:

For the time being, the structure and core remains intact, although it's expected that team president Cam Neely will come down with the final word on the matter sooner than later.
