Kane, who underwent surgery on the labrum in his shoulder in February, is out of his sling, but still isn't close to taking the ice, The Buffalo News reports. "Probably not for a couple more months," Kane said. "I want to take as much time and be cautious of the shoulder and make sure it's 100 percent so I don't have any setbacks going forward."

Analysis:

Kane is expected to be full-go for training camp. The Sabres traded for him knowing his medical situation and gave up a lot to do so, and the plan is for him to have a prominent role as the team works through a rebuild -- one that may include a key future linemate for Kane, with as Buffalo's guaranteed to get either Connor McDavid or Jack Eichel in the draft.
