Ovechkin scores twice vs. Rangers, pulls away in goal-scoring race

We may not have a 100-point scorer this season, but it appears as though we'll have a 50-goal man.
Alex Ovechkin opened the toolbox and moved to within two goals of the half-century mark, wrestling off Jesper Fast and pulling the puck into a shooting position before snapping it past New York Rangers goaltender Cam Talbot for his 48th.

He added his 49th goal midway through the second period on a slap shot that deflected in off Rangers defenseman Keith Yandle on the power play.

Ovechkin has five 50-goal campaigns in his nine full seasons to date.
