Fantasy - WireTap: 3 players to watch on the wire
Every Sunday, we examine three players you should consider picking up from the waiver wire in your pool.
It's that time of year where fantasy hockey championships are decided and managers are looking for every single advantage they can get.
This week, two players from Detroit should be on the waiver radar, as well as an underrated defenseman producing in Vancouver.
But first, here's a look at the NHL's points leaders:

Jamie Benn (DAL) | 72 |
Nicklas Backstrom (WSH) | 72 |

Red Wings F Justin Abdelkader: 23 G, 20 A, +4, 145 SOG
Owned in 46 percent of Yahoo leagues
Justin Abdelkader is not exiting March like a lamb.
The Detroit Red Wings forward is on a four-game goal scoring streak heading into Sunday's game on Long Island, and has scored ten goals in 13 games this month. Abdelkader is also averaging 3.15 shots per game and is thriving on a line with Henrik Zetterberg and Gustav Nyquist.
This streak of fine play slots him seventh among all forwards in Yahoo leagues over the past 30 days, and he's well worth a look with a four-game week on tap in Detroit.
Red Wings G Petr Mrazek: 15-7-1, 2.40 GAA, .917 Sv%
Owned in 17 percent of Yahoo leagues
Sticking with the Red Wings, goaltender Petr Mrazek is being given a chance to assert himself as a viable option in net down the stretch as Jimmy Howard struggles through a rough patch of starts.
Mrazek stopped all 23 shots against in a 4-0 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday and will draw the start Sunday against the New York Islanders.
The 23-year-old has posted a .919 save percentage through 35 career appearances and could be the future in the Red Wings' net, and fantasy managers can catch a taste and reap the benefits of his solid play in the present.
Canucks D Yannick Weber: 9 G, 10 A, +4, 98 SOG
Owned in 6 percent of Yahoo leagues
A third-round pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2007, Yannick Weber is receiving a career-high in ice time (16:53 per game) with the Vancouver Canucks and recently set a new personal record with 19 points on the season.
Weber had been on a four-game point streak heading into Saturday's overtime loss to Dallas, and has recorded four goals and three assists in 12 games this month while seeing closer to 20 minutes of ice time. He's also been afforded the opportunity to participate on the power play, with two goals and two assists.
The 26-year-old ranks 14th among all defenseman in Yahoo leagues over the past 30 days and should be considered a nice depth addition on the blue line.
