For the first time in his NHL career, The Hamburglar was given the hook.

Ottawa Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond was pulled from Thursday's game against the New York Rangers after allowing five goals in less than two periods.

Chris Driedger relieved Hammond and made his NHL debut.

The Rangers needed only 22 shots to take a 5-1 lead and chase Hammond for the first time.

It was also the first time the Senators incurred a three-goal deficit during a Hammond start.

After the game, the netminder said he was still feeling the effects of being hit by San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture on Monday night.

The Rangers became the NHL's first team to clinch a playoff spot with the win
