Marchand thinks Bruins will be a 'much different group' next year if they miss playoffs

The Boston Bruins are becoming more likely to miss the playoffs as the Ottawa Senators' hot streak continues.

Boston currently sits one point behind Ottawa for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and due to lofty expectations, the team could be in trouble if they miss the postseason.

"This is a team where we're expected to win every year. It's been that way for a while. There's a lot of pressure on this group," forward Brad Marchand told Joe Haggerty of CSN. "We want to be a contending team, we want to be a team that has an opportunity to win every year. But with that comes pressure that you need to live up to it, and if not you're forced to deal with the consequences."

Marchand thinks the team may see some changes if they don't get their acts together.

"We understand that this is a big situation. If we don't pull together then this is going to be a much different group next year, I'm sure. I don't think anybody wants that. Hopefully we realize that, come together and allow this group to stay together."

The Bruins host the Anaheim Ducks Thursday and have nine games to figure things out.
