Senators move into playoff spot with win over Sharks

Marc DesRosiers / USA TODAY Sports

The Canadian Tire Centre ice was littered with hamburgers once again as the Ottawa Senators' monumental climb up the standings finally saw the team move into a playoff spot.

With a  5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks Monday, the 'Pesky Sens' have leapfrogged the Boston Bruins for the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The team pulled out the win after scoring four unanswered goals in the third period. The Sens have now won seven straight, giving them 85 points on the season.

Andrew Hammond (The Hamburglar) made 29 saves, stretching his record to 14-0-1 in 16 games, while Mika Zibanejad had two goals.

The Senators still have a game in hand on the Bruins and will look to keep the win streak going Thursday when they play the New York Rangers
